Outlined below is a summary of our work undertaken for some recent clients.

GBAS recently conducted an independent assessment of the future development potential of a further 9 holes at the Club. In forming our recommendations GBAS undertook a detailed review of the market, including membership and visitor rounds trends. The Club's financial performance was also assessed, identifying the level of future demand required to support an increase in the Club's cost base.
GBAS recently facilitated a day long strategic planning workshop with the Club's Board. Working from macro to micro, the present market realities were framed, along with the Club's SWOT and current operational and financial performance. With the Club's vision established, goals and actions for each key result area were set and prioritised.
GBAS was recently engaged by the newly amalgamated Council to undertake an updated market assessment of the Northern Beaches region in Sydney. GBAS assessed the course supply realities present, benchmarking to all LGA's in Sydney. The demand patterns across both the public & private markets were assessed, providing Council with a clear understanding of the market's current performance.
As a follow on to our market assessment and performance review conducted earlier this year, GBAS was engaged to undertake a survey of the Club's members, seeking their views on some strategic options available to the Club. Results were presented using our new interactive presentation tool, illustrating the demographic story within the survey data.
GBAS was recently engaged by the Company to help it set is strategic path. With a market assessment and member survey undertaken, along with a key stakeholder survey, the key issues to be addressed were established. Through a series of workshops company goals and required actions were refined, providing the Company with a clear three year plan.
GBAS recently conducted a detailed market feasibility study for a new golf resort in San Remo. Our work focused on tourism and golf tourism trends in the market, likely course positioning and resultant indicative golf and hotel operational results.

New South Wales Golf Club recently appointed GBAS to undertake a review of the Club’s golf operations structure. GBAS is recognised for its vast experience in this area, having undertaken all of the industry research to date regarding golf operations and retail management. In 2012 our golf club via a strategic planning sub-committee began to formulate a framework for the Board to undertake its strategic planning obligations. GBAS undertook a Golf Operations Review for Headland Golf Club in mid-2014. Investigating a number of potential outcomes for the Club, Jeff Blunden was able to combine his knack for data and his industry knowledge with some “outside the box” thinking and an unbiased approach to deliver a recommended Golf Operations structure and financial setup that was implemented by the Club. Jeff’s ability to walk the Board of Directors through the research and thought process that led to his recommendation was key. Six months in to our new Golf Operations structure the proof of the quality of the recommendations made are in the improved outcomes being achieved by all parties. As such, I would have no hesitation in recommending Jeff to other members of the golf industry.

Moore Park Golf Club recently appointed GBAS to undertake a review of the Club’s operations with a focus on the efficiency of the administration and operational processes. MPGV selected GBAS due to reputation, experience and performance of the Company in the golf industry as well as its knowledge of the complex management arrangements that exist at Moore Park. The Board were also aware of the many and varied assignments undertaken by GBAS.

 

GBAS undertook an exhaustive review of MPGC’s processes, conducting numerous interviews with stakeholders and staff to provide a view of the key elements of the Club’s operating platform, including membership trends, revenue mix, expense base, expertise and knowledge of staff and also a comparative analysis of similar clubs and the golf industry generally.

 

The work of GBAS was completed with a report and presentation to the Board. The Board were very impressed with the recommendations, constructive analysis, knowledge and professionalism of GBAS staff and is currently in the process of implementing a number of the recommendations made by GBAS. It was also important to the Club that the review was completed at the agreed fee.  In the future the Club intends to extend this activity with the preparation of a strategic plan for  its operations. I would readily recommend GBAS to any golf club considering similar activities.
